Bill Clinton's Wife Campaign Song Contest

You must have heard about Sen Clinton, who I refer to as Bill Clinton's wife out of respect for her most genuine credential, is having a contest to pick her campaign theme song.  I can think of 3 right off the bat

Running On Empty, and the Pretender, both by Jackson Brown and possibly even more fitting; Bring Lawyers Gun and Money, by the late great Warren Zevon.

have a nice weekend

Frank,I will grant that Hillary is hard working and intelligent but she has never captured my support-i believe she can have a good career in the senate expecially if she works from the center-I do not believe she is electable in a national election-say what you will about her hubby but he was an excellent politician and was not a traditional democrat in any way-I like your choice for a song-I prefer Warren Zevon-Vic

Yes, maybe so, but more so than any other in my lifetime he is also living proof that "good politician" is an oxymoron.   Sorta like a good snakeoil salesman.  It's a pity no one credits him for his accomplishments instead of his over rated charisma.  But that would shed light on the "not a traditional Democrat" truth you speak.  His biggest accomplishments, after all, were on issues he hijacked from the right, free trade, welfare reform, and , regrettably, the anti-gay miliary stuff.  I hope you are right about his wife.  This open election will be one for the books.

By "a good politician" I do not mean in the moral sense-but as someone who did what it took to stay in power-I hesitate to even call him a democrat-he used the party to get into power but his accomplishments were, as you state ,from the right which absolutely had the right paralyzed and confused-I too wonder about his charisma though I have spoken to a few who worked with him on some issues and they, without exception, claim he can command a room as few can-As someone who has a lifetime interst in history, I believe historians will not be too kind about Bill's legacy and will focus on how he stole the thunder from the right-I certainly agree that this election should be one for the books-i am enjoying your site- it gives me food for thought while end of school year routine affords me the opportunity to indulge........Vic
