Libby Screwing Complete
Disappointed but certainly not surprised in the Libby sentencing today. Back in march I wrote;
I can only belabor the obvious: any time there is a high profile investigation into allegations of a crime, and it is determined none was committed, one will be manufactured to justify the investigation. If the Martha Stewart fiasco didn't prove that theory this should.

As to the Berger comparison check out Protein Wisdom for a fuller explanation, in the way only Jeff Goldstein can, http://proteinwisdom.com/index.php?/trackback/23234/ESHL3k2e/
So far as a potential pardon goes, if Bush has any nads at all, or to just to prove that loyalty street where he likes to consider himself a resident is actually a 2 way street, he'd do it.
I would love love love him to say something along the lines of "when I came to Washington I pledged to change the tone. To not pardon Mr Libby would be to sanction political witch hunts, and a stark betrayal of that pledge.
Like I said in March, what's he got to lose, approval ratings?

Even if he is guilty, Libbys crime compared to Sandy Bergers is a joke. If it ever gets to sentencing and he serves a single day in jail it will be colossal miscarriage of justice.
