Wisconsins Budget Debate
The State budget debate is sure to be a stem winder. For those of you keeping score at home here are the highlights:
Democrats propose biggest tax increase in history, $15+ billion of which is for universal health care. (Hell, the numbers proposed for a national plan by both the Clinton and Obama campaigns is only $60 billion. Is Wisconsin so unhealthy our health care costs should equal one quarter of the cost for the whole friggin country?)
This has got to be the biggest deliberate over reach, the tactic of asking for the moon while expecting considerably less, in any budget ever. I mean even Doyle can't think we're that dumb, or maybe his educrat cronies have assured him we really are, since 98% of us graduated from government schools.
The Republican response: A no tax increase plan that cuts spending and promises to get Wisconsin out of the top 10 highest taxed states.
Doyles response: Namecalling and scare tactics. "Irresponsible" "wreckless" blah blah blah. Typical, but he does all which such ease, and all in the same paragraph, it is amazing to watch. In his press announcement today he surrounded himself with police and firefighters. The not so subtle message:
Republicans would rather let you burn and be crime victims than raise taxes.
Does this pantload have anything but scare tactics to offer, ever?
Oh well, most budget "negotiations" are moot anyway. The way the current Wisconsin system is rigged legislators are virtually irellevent since the Governor can literally rewrite the entire budget with his veto pen anyway. In Wisconsin Governor = King, and until we peasants bring out the pitchforks, light up the torches, seek out and destroy Frankenstein, it will never change.
Lap it up all you Wisconsaps who voted for Doyle, you are getting the government you deserve. The problem is the rest of us deserve better.
