Wisconsin Progressive Lights Shine
"I wouldn't be surprised if [the violence in Iraq becomes] horrendous. The
only hope for the Iraqis is their own damned government, and there's slim
hope for that."---courtesy the Patriot
So sayeth our Rep. David Obey (D-Embarrass WI) who supports withdrawing our troops
from Iraq regardless of the consequences.
Nice, but certainly not very Wisconsin of him you think? Here we are known for our open arms and hospitality but this native son seems defiantly indifferent to the assured annihilation of millions. And I thought liberals cornered the market on compassion. I mean seriously, could it be possible to be less humanitarian or more racist in one sentence?
Rep Obey is relatively new to the Chair of Appropriations so he gets, and is in for, much more press attention. He has a ways to go but if this is any indication he just may catch up to Russ Feingold as Wisconsin's biggest embarrassment. Such non-chalance about the real possibility of another slaughter along the lines of the killing fields in Cambodia makes him a real contender.
Speaking of which...
Senator Al Russell Bin Fiengold (D. Peoples Republic of Madison) was one of only 3 Senators, along with Byrd, and Harkin (Iowas Feingold) to vote NO on a sense of the Senate resolution that "it was in the U.S. best interest that Iraq not become a failed state and a safe haven for terrorists."
You got that? Where Lil Rusty is concerned, and is now on the record; safe havens for terrorists are no threat to the U.S.and Iraq becoming a failed state is just okey dokey. Feingold continues to confound anatomical experts at just how far one's head can fit so far up, and stay so long, up ones_____, well, you get the point. I like to keep this site relatively clean but watching our own so-called representation makes it difficult.
Also, no surprise here of course, Bin Feingold was among every single Democrat Senator to vote against the "John Doe" bill which would have protected those who report suspicious behavior, in good-faith, from being sued in the event their information didn't pan out. In all fairness though, it was probably the 'good-faith' part that through him off, being completely unfamiliar with the concept and all.
We have learned that, as far as the Democrat Senate sees it, protecting Joe Q. Traveling Public from being killed takes a back seat to protecting the latest best market for tort cases for fellow trial lawyers, aggrieved sensitive muslims. Not like that wouldn't be predictable or anything but I'm just sayin.... it's nice of them to show their true colors after all. It saves us critics the trouble of questioning their patriotism, when they make it so obvious and all. An odd constituent service to be sure, but appreciated nonetheless.
Gotta hand it to the Dems though. Knowing full well their ultimate goals of losing the war and ignoring terrorism won't sell as a package deal they masterfully employ the skill of incrementalism. Items like these make for a pretty good work week for the defeatocrat caucus.
They are fully invested in a political strategy where the only way for them to win politically is for the U.S. to lose militarily. It is as cynically depraved as politics can get but Reid, Pelosi and the 14% approval congress are up to the task and sadly, seem to be making progress. Worse, it seems Wisconsin's bright progressive lights are among those leading the charge - - in reverse.
If there is any dark cheer for conservatives these days it might be that the historically low approval ratings of this President are more than double that of Congress which prompts this question: can polling data include negative integers? At this rate we'll soon find out. The other thing to keep an eye on is the inverse relationship between congressional poll numbers and good news from Iraq. Coincidence?
Have a nice wekend.
