New Hampshire
Apparently the Dems in New Hampshire are running out of ballots. I am assuming it's not because of a last minute onslaught of Clinton supporters. Mixed emotions on that. Tis certainly a pleasure to behold her demise but the liberal mainstream press is proceeding apace with the coronation - - it's simply refitting the crown to fit over an afro.
Our celebrity crazed culture is reaching full impact leaving absolutely no doubt that when it comes down to a choice between style and substance - - style wins. Just look at Iowa where Oprah and Chuck Norris carried the day.
But still, Bill Clinton's wife promoting herself as the agent of change is just a reach too far, almost comical. Not that her experience amounted to much, but at least she had some, twice or three times as much in the Senate as Obama if I'm not mistaken, and that's with only one term. If successful his will be the thinnest resume' ever to reach 1600 Pennsylvania.
And there's this; TOM ELIA: "Isn't it odd that the leading candidate for change is a Chicago Democrat?"
What a great point.
I am all for a black President but when you look past the soaring rhetoric and charisma there really isn't much more there than a kindergarten kid living out his greatest fantasy, except he's older. There couldn't be a worse time in history to forsake genuine gravitas for an affirmative action President.
Who will the Republicans put up against him is totally up for grabs. From where I sit anybody but Romney will be a sacrifice and he may be too. If Obama wins the nomination and continues to be protected from press scrutiny just picture how he looks on the national stage next to John McCain. Young, black, energetic, new-world stud compared to a white, tired old warhorse. Given our preference for style over substance that won't even be close.
Given the various threats we face as a country right now, change for change sake seems pretty disconnected, ill-advised, and dangerous.
Romney, more so than any others, can legitimately run as a change candidate, even against Obama, because he is not a political careerist. This needs to be trumped up and sold hard. If change is what the folks really want they are more likely to get it from an accomplished private sector Washington outsider who has not spent his entire life in politics than from an old school Chicago Democrat. That being said however, I trust someone in the Romney camp is compiling an all black short list of potential running mates, surely the ONLY possible way to neutralize the white guilt vote. J.C. Watts, dust off your resume and start hitting the gym, you'll be getting a call soon.
