St Theodore of Hyannisport
Having survived cancer I am loathe to wish ill on any of its victims regardless of their despicability, in other words I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. That said I hope Ted Kennedy survives this and wish his family well and good luck. I have a friend with a worse diagnosis from over a year ago that is still with us so it is possible.
On the other hand there's nothing to keep me from hoping that after his recovery his eventual demise is more appropriate, say drowning in the back seat of a car driven into five feet of water, by an illicit lover, who ponders how it might effect her career rather than you know, actually trying to save him.
If there is a heaven and a judgment day I am guessing Ms Kopechne is out shopping for the right ensemble to where on the witness stand about now.
Ted Kennedy is the quintessential elitist, the diametric opposite of a Heartlander. One who never had to work a day in his life yet is completely and routinely comfortable is assuming the authority to tell the rest of us how to live, the poster boy for the ruling class. One whose position transcends all the rules that aply to the rest of us.
The northeast corridor is full of them and they are out in force singing his praises. In watching the DC political media elitist establishment slobber over his grandiosity you will find no better illustration of the difference between them and us. It is an embarrassment in its utter lack of class and dignity, but in that it is perfectly fitting for both the honoree and those bestowing the honor.
