Democrat Epiphany, Big New Machine in The Works
Had an interesting conversation with my mechanic, whom I singlehandedly seem to be keeping afloat lately, through no fault of his. Hard working small business, Harley guy. Good heartlander who like many of us is scratching his head on the state current state of affairs.
Two comments rang true; one the mystery, actually the question of our time in my opinion, how can people be so stupid as to think the government can fix anything, especially when the state of their own affairs, to quote his Oneness "is as bad as it has been since the great depression".
The other comment was "the only way to fix this is to ban unions", perhaps not a direct quote but the sentiment is there. I just hope his is the majority opinion. Problem is the rule makers are owned by the unions too..... did anyone seriously believe the naked emperor would actually force car makers to wring concessions out of the UAW, seriously, anyone? I believe his alleged genius is wildly overblown but he is smart enough to know who his paymasters are.

Pretty much sums it all up and certainly offers a plausible explanation for the Democrats ramming Porkulus Maximus down Americas throat. Between the expanded dependent class from stimulus hadouts, and a revitalized and enlarged army of patronage hacks to remind them of how to vote, or who to thank, same difference, Chicago machine politics is going national.
When a dominant political party takes a course of action that blithely ignores so many lessons of history, and the math of fundamental economics, that both show what they are doing will not work, the question becomes one of motivation, and it always leads to the same conclusion - - it's all about the power. Getting it, and once it is attained, rigging the system to keep it. It's the Chicago way.
My fellow conservatives, you self-proclaimed purists who refused to hold your noses long enough to vote for McCain please pay close attention to what you have wrought. As has been documented ad nauseum in these pages I am far from a McCain fan but still don't believe he would have been this bad. Your let's-teach 'em-a-lesson-by-sitting-out-and- letting-Democrats-win theory is being put to the test. Our only hope now is that the damage is reversible. The joke that nothing is more permanent than a temporary government program is only humorous because it's true.
As a natural optimist I find it hard to come up with content and opinion that isn't all doom and gloom. Nobody likes a whiner. So with that in mind anyone out there with some good news please feel free to pass it along. Lord knows we could use it.
