Truth Can Be Stranger Than Fiction
and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
Example 1:
Benjamin Netanyahu declares willingness to negotiate with Palestine...
...once they acknowledge Israels right to exist.
I believe the translation from Hebrew to American lexicon on that last point would be something along the lines of "when hell freezes over". The whole foundation of Palestine's existence, or at least the current powers that be, Hamas, Hezzbollah whatever, is based on the eradication of Israel. Their logo has an outline of the entire territory, including all of Israel., with no bounderies. In expecting they undermine their own foundation as a starting point, Bibi is more or less saying don't hold your breath.
Example 2:
Obama urges both sides of abortion debate to seek common goals.
Yeah right. Those two extremes reaching common ground will begin precisely when the pro-choice side admits abortion is murder or the pro-lifers admit it isn't. See above reference to a frozen hell.
Pro-life goal: eliminate abortion.
Pro-choice goal: keep abortion legal.
I don't think I'm going all gloomy and doomy to suggest that for some issues there just isn't any common ground.
Probably the most entertaining aspect of that whole charade is how Obama, as radical pro-abortion President as there has ever been, postures himself as some sort of transcendent and detached mediator on the prickliest national debate since slavery. It's as though he actually believes that the sheer brilliance of his charisma can bridge the gap between pro-choice pro-life, Israel Palestine, Iran the U.S. etc.
What we are wittnessing here is the difference between appearing smart and being smart, and that difference is going to be devastate to this country.
Both of these examples are the result of a politician having to say something because they are put into a historically remarkable situation and it falls on them to offer the remarks. In other words, time in front of a live microphone was scheduled so something had to be said.
I trust both gentlemen are intelligent enough to realize all they offered on these occasions was nothing more than a fresh steaming hot pile of pelosi. (here in Wisconsin formally known as bullshit).
